January 16 & 17, 2010 Yoga in the Vines |
The Radiance of Fire; A Core-Centered Workshop – Sat., 1/16/10 Hip Openers for Everyone – Sun., 1/17/10 It is an honor to return to this lovely studio in the wine country just north of Santa Barbara. This time I’m staying for two days and not only repeating the popular Hip Opener Workshop, and bringing my new and exciting Fire and Core workshop. The latter workshop was created when I had to have reconstructive surgery on my ankle last year. For three months I could not use my legs for any yoga practice. How could I develop heat? How could I move circulation? How could my practice still be invigorating? What I created on my own mat I now bring and share to you. |

This popular workshop is repeated only a few times a year and worth doing more than once to see how much further you can go into poses. Plus, the peak pose changes with each group. Come get rid of the winter so you can bounce into Spring! |
Finding the Light in Our Hearts: Backbends and Heart Openers |
||
Sunday, September 19, 2010 YogaWorks, Westwood |
This workshop is new for 2010 and will focus on opening the upper body, where most of us are tightest. You will learn to breathe into this area, which is the key to getting into deeper backbends. You will start to feel a sense of lightness, which comes from the quality of the Fourth Chakra – air. And we will end in a Tantric meditation that taps into a greater light within your heart, the light of knowing that you are part of the Divine. This workshop can be taken alone or as an introduction to the Journey Series; A Tantric Approach to Heart Opening, which will follow for three consecutive weeks afterwards. |

Each year I have the honor of teaching a Three Week deeper study of the world of Tantric practices. This year the focus is on the heart and how it can be a powerful tool for our personal evolution. Each morning will consist of yoga poses leading to backbends and heart openers, breathing techniques and other Tantric techniques to experience a greater lightness and spirit in the heart. Those who have done these Journey’s have expressed extreme appreciation for the opportunity to study one topic over a period of time. |

The Five Pranas |
||
Saturday, October 30, 2010 Rising Lotus Yoga |
In the Yogic perspective, there are five specific pathways of breathing and they can either help a pose or negatively affect a pose. In this workshop we will learn all five directions, discover where each of us is deficient, and understand how they affect us on a mental, emotional and physical level. We will then do a practice using these pathways followed by a meditation to set the energy we’ve cultivated. You will leave with new tools to apply to your practice and to your life, expanding beyond your limitations. Your yoga will progress to a new, rewarding level. |
Tantra and the Chakras |
||
Sunday, October 31, 2010 Rising Lotus Yoga |
In the world of Tantra Yoga, the Chakras, “wheels” of energy, are accessed not only through yoga poses but also through prana, mantra and visualization techniques. Tantra means “to weave” and a Tantric practice weaves or blends the elements into an energetic experience that fully opens the Chakras, allowing the Kundalini force to awaken. When this happens, a greater intelligence is aroused from its slumber and one opens to a new range of vitality and awakened potential. Following a description of each, we will practice yoga with poses directed to stimulate awakening. Throughout the practice we will apply breathing techniques, visualizations and mantra to move the wheels of energy. The practice will end in a meditation that takes our work into a deeper and more lasting level. |
